Sellick Partnership is working in partnership with a high performing, in-house legal services team to recruit an experienced Senior Childcare Solicitor. This highly regarded in-house organisation in central Birmingham is looking to strengthen its current senior management team with the addition of two new Senior Childcare Solicitors. As a Senior Childcare Solicitor you will join an expanding team and help deliver on one of its strategic priorities of providing effective legal advice and advocacy work in the family courts.

Successful Senior Childcare Solicitor applicants will work as part of a motivated, supportive and friendly Legal Services team. You will be tasked with working autonomously on a caseload of Childcare matters whilst simultaneously managing your own team of childcare layers and legal assistants. You will have responsibility for the day to day management of 5-6 individuals. You will join a stable and experienced senior management team of 9 individuals, resulting in an extremely supportive working environment. As a Senior Childcare Solicitor you will be involved in complex, challenging, and rewarding work; work that will give you the satisfaction of accomplishment that can come from helping vulnerable children and their families. You will have the advantage of undertaking advocacy at centrally located courts. You will also work very closely with the internal clients you provide advice to, assisting in developing successful long term working relationships. Working in a collaborative environment, one which encourages schools, health professionals and the police to work together ensures the Senior Childcare Solicitors can do the best job possible for their clients and their teams.

The successful Senior Childcare Solicitor will ideally have worked within a childcare or family law environment for at least 5 years, and demonstrate a sound understanding of this complex area of law. You will be a qualified Solicitor/Barrister/Legal Executive with a current Practising Certificate. Previous Local Government experience and a proven track record of developing individuals within a team would be advantageous but is by no means essential for this role. This is a rare and genuine opportunity for an experienced Senior Childcare Solicitor looking to take the next step and progress into a management role. You will have access to an internal, well-structured Management Programme, alongside the support and guidance of other members of the senior management team. In return for your experience, commitment and motivation, you will enjoy working in a modern environment, with scope for home working, as well as an excellent salary and benefits package. The exceptional reward package includes a ‘Golden Handshake’, highlighting my clients’ commitment to their team and securing the very best knowledge and experience for the organisation.

As a Senior Childcare Solicitor you must possess care and compassion to listen to what clients and your wider team need. You will be able to involve them in the decisions that affect them. Everyone’s needs are different so our client structures their services in a way that means they can adapt to what is right for every person. Your resilience and motivation will be supported by a strong and supportive team with a genuine sense of community.

If you want to join a high performing, dedicated children’s legal services team with a clear vision to improve outcomes for children and families, then we would be delighted to hear from you.  For more information on this opportunity, please contact Kate Jasper in our Manchester office for more information.
